Obstructive sleep apnoea [OSA] is a condition in which the upper airway [from nose till larynx] either collapses or closes during sleep which causes snoring and temporary cut-off of oxygen to brain as a result of which sleep breaks. OSA usually leads to early diabetes and hypertension and heart disease and hence needs to be addressed early. Treatment may include use of CPAP or surgery or both.
